As liveaboards on a sailboat, we're naturally on the move a lot. Currently, we're sailing only through the Norwegian fjords. But every Friday is "boat cleaning day" for us. Today it was laundry day again. We have a 3kg wall-mounted washing machine from Asia, which is actually designed for small studio apartments, but is widely used on sailboats and motorhomes. We're very happy with the machine; it washes quietly and uses little electricity and water. For a 60°C wash cycle, it uses 520 Wh and about 20 liters of water. Today is a sunny day, ideal for drying laundry. We're well anchored on a skerry. At midday, we put up the FLIN solar sail to generate electricity for washing. We've now washed two barrels and cooked some pasta – but by 4 pm we already have more power in the batteries than we did at midday.

Thanks to the FLINsail , we are truly independent and can live wherever we want.
